Pros : reduce blemish, reduce pimple outbreak, deep cleanse, fairer and smoother skin, decrease size of pimple/increase acne healing rate, affordable, fast and effective
Cons : a little messy, may cause skin flakes, dryness
I'm having the mask on now, tell u the result later!
Read the instructions here if you want to try this cheap and good mask.
Items you'll need:
- Aspirin pills - Yesyes, the med for curing headaches, isn't it amazing! I bought Bayer Aspirin (24 tabs) for $5.50. You can get it at guradian/watson/unity. Number of pills you wanna use depends on your skin tolerance. I decided to use only one pill for trial.
- Water or Aloe Vera Gel or Cetaphil or Toner - I replaced with Cyclax hydrating mask (John Little).
- Hydrating Mask - As aspirin can be very drying to the skin.
- Optional: Daiso Charcoal Mask - The purpose of this is to extract surface blackheads. I bought the last one left on the rack just now hahahha!! $2 nia.
I've just washed off the Aspirin mask after about 8mins. My skin is smoother and the bumps are slightly smaller! My new pimple is still there though..can't expect instant result right. In general, it feels like I've just exfoliated my skin.
The charcoal mask next. :D Whee, I quite like the smell of this!
UPDATE:The charcoal masque has dried up so I'm gonna go take it off.
OKAY FUCK.
The peeling off the charcoal mask hurts like fuck! Alot of my facial hair was plucked out!!! KNN!
I realised only today that my facial hair is brown in colour.
Don't see any blackheads leh. Fail. And makes my skin a little irritated..=(
Still, it's quite shiok to see the tiny hair against the black masque!
Multi-purpose! I read it can treat dandruff also?!
This mask smells of kaolin. $6.10 for 175ml, pretty worth it.
Cheap alternative for facial wax.
In conclusion, this DIY aspirin mask is not exactly hassle-free but works similar as my bodyshop tea tree mask. If you wanna save money, this one's probably one of the cheapest DIY mask? I'm gonna continue doing this mask once a week (the recommended period) to see the effect over time. That is, if I remember to! I may also up the dosage to 3 pills since I don't have any allergic reaction (phewww).
